Good Cabbage Slaw

Ingredients

  1. 1 head cabbage, shredded fine
  2. 1 large onion, sliced thin
  3. 1/2 c. sugar
  4. 1 tsp. celery seed
  5. 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  6. 1 c. vinegar
  7. 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  8. 3/4 c. salad oil

Directions

  1. Place alternate layers of cabbage and onions in a large bowl. Cover with sugar and celery seed.
  2. Boil together vinegar, salt and mustard.
  3. Add oil; heat again to boiling.
  4. Pour over cabbage and onions.
  5. Do not mix.
  6. Refrigerate at least 4 hours.
  7. Better after 24 hours.
  8. Stir and serve.
  9. Keeps well.
