Broiled Herbed Tomatoes



  1. 6 medium firm, ripe tomatoes
  2. 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter
  3. 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  4. 1/4 tsp. rosemary leaf, crumbled
  5. 1/2 tsp. basil leaf
  6. 1/2 tsp. salt
  7. 1/4 tsp. pepper


  1. Wash tomatoes and remove stem ends.
  2. Cut tomatoes in half crosswise.
  3. Melt butter in saucepan.
  4. Brush over cut surface of tomatoes with butter.
  5. Combine bread crumbs, rosemary, basil, salt and pepper.
  6. Sprinkle crumbs over tops of tomatoes.
  7. Pour remaining butter over top of crumbs.
  8. Broil under low heat with tops of tomatoes about 3-inches from heat for 10 to 12 minutes until tomatoes are heated through and crumbs are well browned.
