Adobe Grilled Turkey Planks Recipe



  1. 11/2 lb Turkey breast, boneless and skinless sliced 1/2" thick
  2. 1 Tbsp. Garlic pwdr
  3. 1 Tbsp. Chili pwdr
  4. 1 Tbsp. Grnd cumin
  5. Salt and pepper taste
  6. 1 c. Chicken broth
  7. 1/2 c. Red wine


  1. Combine spices.
  2. Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix.
  3. Rub the turkey with the spice rub and set aside.
  4. Can be marinated overnight in the refrigerator if you like.
  5. Place charcoal in a pyramid shape and light with either lighter fluid, electric starter or possibly chimney starter.
  6. Wait till coals are gray and spread in a single layer for the direct heat method.
  7. Spray grid with non-stick spray and let grid heat over the warm coals (the hotter the grid, the less chance the food will stick).
  8. Place the turkey on the grid over a warm fire and cook for seven min per side or possibly till done.
  9. Remove from grill, and let sit for five min prior to service since it will cook a slight bit more after removal from grill.
  10. In a saucepan, bring the broth and wine to a simmer and reduce to half the volume.
  11. Place reduction on the turkey and serve.
