Apple Pie Dessert

Ingredients

  1. 6 baking apples (peeled, cored and thinly sliced, Granny Smith apples are good to use)
  2. 14 cup orange juice
  3. 34 cup flour
  4. 34 cup white sugar
  5. 14 cup brown sugar (or use 1 cup white sugar)
  6. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  7. 14-12 teaspoon nutmeg
  8. 18 teaspoon salt
  9. 12 cup cold butter (cut into small pieces)
  10. vanilla ice cream (optional)

Directions

  1. Set oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Mound the apple slices in the pie plate, then sprinkle the orange juice over the apples.
  4. In a medium bowl mix together flour, both sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt; add in cold butter cubes and mix together using your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Scatter the mixture over the apples.
  6. Place the pie plate onto a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender but not too soft.
  8. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.
