Apple Pecan Upside Down Pie Recipe



  1. 1 c. minced pecans
  2. 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  3. 1/3 c. butter melted
  4. 1 x (15 ounce ) package refrigerated piecrusts
  5. 6 c. thinly sliced peeled apples
  6. 1/4 c. sugar
  7. 2 Tbsp. flour
  8. 1/2 x teas cinnamon
  9. 1/8 tsp nutmeg


  1. In 9" pie pan, combine pecans, brown sugar and butter; spread proportionately over bottom of pan.
  2. Prepare piecrust according to directions for 2 crust pie, placing bottom crust over pecan mix in pan.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 F. In large bowl combine apples, sugar, flour cinnamon and nutmeg: mix lightly.
  5. Spoon into crust lined pan.
  6. Top with remaining crust.
  7. Press together to seal, flute edges.
  8. Make slits on top crust.
  9. Bake for 40-50 min or possibly till apples are tender and crusts deep golden.
  10. Cover edge of crust with strips of foil after 15-20 min of baking to prevent excessive browning.
  11. Cold pie upright in pan for 5 min.
  12. Place serving plate over pie; invert.
  13. Carefully remove pan.
  14. Some nuts may remain in pan; replace on pie.
  15. Cold at least 1 hour before serving.
