A Taste of Olden Times: Denpun Dango (Starch Sweets)



  1. 200 grams Katakuriko
  2. 2 to 3 tablespoons Sugar
  3. 2 tbsp Water
  4. 100 to 150 ml Hot water
  5. 1/2 bag Cooked and sugared red beans (in your preferred size)


  1. In a bowl, combine sugar and katakuriko with water.
  2. Then, add hot water a little at a time.
  3. Continue working while adding small amounts of hot water until the mixture has the consistency of pancake batter.
  4. Mix in the beans.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and cook.
  6. Flip over when transparent in color.
  7. They are finished when transparent and slightly golden brown.
  8. Enjoy while hot.
