"american" Hummus (No Tahini)



  1. 13 cup lemon juice
  2. 4 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  3. 34 teaspoon minced garlic
  4. 12 teaspoon cumin
  5. 12 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  6. 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
  7. 12 teaspoon sea salt
  8. 14 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
  9. 16 ounces garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained well


  1. Add all ingredients except garbanzo beans to food processor.
  2. Cover & pulse until blended.
  3. Add beans, process until smooth.
  4. Tips: For creamier hummus, add a little more olive oil.
  5. For "tangier" hummus, add a little more lemon juice.
  6. If your food processor won't make it as smooth as you'd like, transfer the hummus to a bowl and gently mix/mash with the back of a spoon.
