Bert'S Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 c. vinegar
  2. 1/2 c. water
  3. 2 Tbsp. sugar
  4. 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  5. 1/2 tsp. pepper
  6. 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  7. 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  8. 1 thick slice lemon
  9. 1 large onion, sliced
  10. 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  11. 1/2 c. catsup
  12. 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. In saucepan, mix vinegar, water, sugar, mustard, pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, lemon, onion and butter.
  2. Simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes.
  3. Add catsup and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a boil. Drain to remove lemon and onions.
  4. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.
