Savory Salt Substitute

Ingredients

  1. 1 Tbsp. black pepper
  2. 1 Tbsp. celery seed
  3. 1 Tbsp. onion powder
  4. 2 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  5. 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  6. 1 1/2 tsp. powdered orange peel
  7. 1 1/2 tsp. arrowroot
  8. 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
  9. 3/4 tsp. sour salt (powdered citric acid)
  10. 1/2 tsp. white pepper
  11. 1/2 tsp. dill weed
  12. 1/2 tsp. dried thyme, crumbled
  13. 1/4 tsp. plus pinch powdered lemon peel
  14. 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

Directions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a small electric coffee grinder, spice grinder or blender.
  2. Grind for 10 seconds or until mixture is fine.
  3. Insert a funnel in the top of a glass salt shaker.
  4. Pour the mixture into it and tap the funnel lightly to fill the shaker. Cover the rest of the mixture tightly and store it in a cool, dry, dark place.
  5. Makes about 1/2 cup.
