Stuffed Cabbage



  1. 1 large head cabbage with nice firm leaves
  2. 1/2 c. rice
  3. 1 small onion, chopped
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1 lb. ground beef
  6. salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cook rice in boiling water until partly done.
  2. Mix all ingredients, except cabbage.
  3. Separate cabbage leaves; wash and parboil in salty water until slightly tender.
  4. Cool cabbage leaves.
  5. Take big spoonful of meat mixture and put in center of cabbage leaf and roll up.
  6. Place in baking dish that tomato soup or sauerkraut has been adding.
  7. Bake in 325° oven until meat is done, about 1 hour.
  8. Cover when placing in oven.
