Tart Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 c. butter or other fat
  2. 1 c. vinegar
  3. 1 sour pickle, finely chopped
  4. 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  5. 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  6. 2 tsp. chili sauce
  7. 4 slices lemon
  8. 1 tsp. brown sugar
  9. 1 green pepper, finely chopped

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly.
  2. Place in a saucepan over low heat and cook until butter melts, stirring constantly.
  3. Keep warm in a double boiler until ready to use on barbecued meats or as a sauce for barbecue sandwiches.
  4. Makes 1-3/4 c. sauce.
