Nut Roll



  1. 4 c. sifted flour
  2. 1/2 lb. salted butter
  3. 1 tsp. salt
  4. 2 Tbsp. sugar
  5. 2 egg yolks
  6. 2 pkg. yeast
  7. 1 c. lukewarm cream


  1. Place yeast in small bowl.
  2. Add sugar and lukewarm cream.
  3. Let stand while mixing butter into flour.
  4. Blend butter as for pastry until consistency of coarse cornmeal.
  5. Make a well in center of mixture and drop in unbeaten egg yolks.
  6. Add yeast mixture at same time and mix dough thoroughly until dough leaves sides of bowl. Mix for about 5 minutes.
  7. Place dough on lightly floured board and cut into 4 pieces.
  8. Let rest while making filling.
