Dolly Beck'S Russian Tea Cakes

Ingredients

  1. 1 c. butter, softened
  2. 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
  3. 1 tsp. vanilla
  4. 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
  5. 1/4 tsp. salt
  6. 1/4 c. finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  7. sifted powdered sugar (for rolling)

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°.
  2. Mix thoroughly the butter, sugar and vanilla.
  3. Work in the flour, salt and nuts until dough holds together.
  4. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until set but not brown.
  6. While warm, roll in confectioners sugar.
  7. Cool; roll in sugar again.
  8. Makes 4 dozen.
