Green Tomato Ketchup

Ingredients

  1. 1 gal. green tomatoes, ground fine (measure after ground)
  2. 1 large head cabbage, ground
  3. 1 qt. onions, ground
  4. 2 hot peppers, ground
  5. 2 sweet peppers, ground
  6. 4 c. sugar
  7. 2 Tbsp. salt
  8. 2 Tbsp. celery seed
  9. 2 Tbsp. turmeric
  10. 2 Tbsp. white mustard seed
  11. 1 qt. pure vinegar

Directions

  1. Combine tomatoes, onions and cabbage when ground into a bag and squeeze out juice
  2. or
  3. drain
  4. overnight.
  5. Let vinegar, sugar and other seasonings
  6. heat,
  7. then
  8. add other ingredients and cook 30 minutes.
  9. Stir,
  10. fill
  11. jars and seal.
  12. Makes about ten pints. This is an old recipe and very good.
