Deep Dish Apple Pie
- 6 to 8 apples
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 1/2 recipe plain pastry
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- Cut apples into thin slices.
- Place in baking dish or a deep pie plate.
- Sprinkle with mixture of sugar, salt and cinnamon. Pour water over filling and dot with butter.
- Roll pastry to 1/8 inch thickness and place over apples.
- Bake in hot oven (450°) for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350° and bake 40 to 50 minutes, until apples are tender.
