Deer Stew

Ingredients

  1. 2 to 3 lb. cut up meat
  2. bacon fat
  3. 2 large sliced onions
  4. 3 Tbsp. flour
  5. 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  6. 3 Tbsp. ketchup
  7. 1 Tbsp. sugar
  8. salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Brown cut up meat in bacon fat.
  2. Add sliced onions and continue to brown.
  3. When nicely browned, stir in flour.
  4. Place in baking dish and add vinegar, ketchup, sugar, salt and pepper. Cover meat with water; bake in 375° oven for 2 to 3 hours or until tender, adding water as needed to keep meat covered.
  5. When done, thicken gravy and serve.
  6. Serves 4 to 6.
