Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

  1. 1 c. fine bread crumbs
  2. 1 c. milk, soak bread crumbs in milk
  3. 1/4 c. minced onion
  4. 1 lb. ground meat (raw)
  5. 1 egg, slightly beaten
  6. 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  7. 1/2 tsp. pepper
  8. 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  9. 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter
  10. 2 Tbsp. flour
  11. 1 bouillon cube, dissolved in 1 c. hot water
  12. 1/2 c. milk
  13. 1/2 c. sour cream

Directions

  1. After soaking bread crumbs in milk, add onion, meat, egg and seasonings.
  2. Mix; shape into 1-inch balls.
  3. Saute in margarine or butter until light brown on all sides.
  4. Remove meatballs from pan; set aside.
  5. Melt margarine or butter in same pan.
  6. Add flour, bouillon cube mixture, milk and sour cream.
  7. Cook these ingredients, stirring constantly until thick.
  8. Add meatballs to mixture and simmer for 15 to 30 minutes.
