Real Italian Lasagna

Ingredients

  1. 2 lb. ground beef
  2. 2 or 3 onions, chopped
  3. 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
  4. 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  5. 1/4 tsp. sage
  6. 1/4 tsp. parsley flakes
  7. 1/4 tsp. rosemary
  8. 1/4 tsp. thyme
  9. 1/4 tsp. oregano
  10. 1/4 tsp. celery salt
  11. 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  12. 1/4 tsp. marjoram
  13. 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
  14. 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  15. salt and pepper to taste
  16. 6 to 8 lasagna noodles, cooked
  17. 8 oz. cottage cheese or Ricotta cheese
  18. 10 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
  19. 10 oz. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  20. 1 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet, stirring until crumbly; drain.
  2. Add the onions, tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings. Simmer for 30 minutes or longer, adding water gradually as needed. Layer the lasagna noodles, sauce, cottage cheese, Cheddar, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses 1/2 at a time in a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  3. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
  4. Yields 8 servings.
