Raisin Bread

Ingredients

  1. 1 c. scalded milk
  2. 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  3. 2 pkg. yeast
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1/3 c. brown sugar
  6. 1/4 c. warm water
  7. 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  8. 2 tsp. cinnamon
  9. 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  10. 4 c. flour
  11. 1 1/2 c. raisins, plumped in hot water

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Scald milk and butter; cool to lukewarm.
  3. Pour over sugar to dissolve it.
  4. Add egg and dry ingredients.
  5. Mix in drained raisins.
  6. Let rise once.
  7. Second time shape into 2 loaves.
  8. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
