Barbecued Fried Chicken

Ingredients

  1. 4 to 5 lb. broiler-fryer chicken parts
  2. 1 c. flour
  3. shortening for frying
  4. 3/4 c. water
  5. 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  6. 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  7. 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  8. 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  9. 1 Tbsp. chopped onion
  10. 2 c. canned tomatoes
  11. 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  12. 1/2 tsp. pepper
  13. 1/4 tsp. chopped garlic

Directions

  1. Coat each piece of chicken with flour.
  2. Fry in shortening until golden.
  3. Blend together small amount of water with 2 tablespoons flour.
  4. Add remaining water.
  5. Mix well with remaining ingredients. Drain excess fat from chicken.
  6. Pour sauce over chicken.
  7. Cover and simmer 1 hour or until tender.
  8. Makes 4 servings.
