Half-A-Pound Cake

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 c. sugar
  2. 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
  3. 1/4 c. shortening
  4. 3 eggs
  5. 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  6. 1 1/2 c. cake flour
  7. 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  8. 1/2 c. milk

Directions

  1. Cream sugar, butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  2. Beat in vanilla. Combine cake flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Add milk and beat 5 minutes.
  3. Pour batter into
  4. a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan or into 2 smaller loaf pans.
  5. Bake.
