- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/3 c. unsweetened baking cocoa
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. chocolate chips (optional)
- Heat oven to 375°.
- Cream shortening, sugar, water and vanilla.
- Add eggs to creamed mixture.
- Add remaining ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop on cookie sheet and bake 1 sheet at a time for 7 to 9 minutes.
- Cookies will appear soft and moist. Do not overbake.
