English Toffee Bars

Ingredients

  1. 15 graham crackers
  2. 1 c. packed brown sugar
  3. 1 c. margarine or butter
  4. 1 (6 oz.) pkg. milk chocolate pieces
  5. 1/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions

  1. Line a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with
  2. aluminum
  3. foil. Grease well.
  4. Arrange crackers on bottom of
  5. pan, breaking, if necessary, to completely cover pan.
  6. Combine
  7. brown
  8. sugar and margarine
  9. in a medium pan.
  10. Cook and
  11. stir
  12. over
  13. medium-high heat until mixture boils.
  14. Remove from heat;
  15. pour over crackers.
  16. Bake
  17. in a
  18. 400°
  19. oven 5 minutes.
  20. Remove
  21. from
  22. oven. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate pieces.
  23. When chocolate is soft, spread over top of sugar mixture.
  24. Sprinkle
  25. with
  26. nuts. Chill in the refrigerator 30 minutes.
  27. Break
  28. into
  29. bite
  30. size pieces.
  31. Makes 24 to 36 pieces.
