Hush Puppies

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 c. corn meal
  2. 1/2 c. flour
  3. 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  4. 3/4 c. buttermilk
  5. 2 tsp. salt
  6. 1 large finely cut onion

Directions

  1. Combine corn meal, flour and baking soda in a mixing bowl. Stir in buttermilk and beat until batter is smooth.
  2. Stir in salt and onion.
  3. Drop heaping tablespoonfuls of batter into a deep fryer; fry until golden brown.
  4. Drain on paper toweling before serving.
