Bread

Ingredients

  1. 2 c. warm water
  2. 1 pkg. yeast (RapidRise)
  3. 3 Tbsp. melted butter or shortening
  4. 1/2 c. sugar
  5. 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add other ingredients, then add 1 to 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour.
  3. Blend with electric mixer.
  4. Add slowly bread flour (3 1/2 to 4 cups; total wheat and bread flour should be 5 cups).
  5. After 3 cups flour are mixed with electric mixer, fold the balance of flour with a wooden spoon.
  6. Put on a floured board or wax paper and knead.
  7. Next, put in oiled bowl. Oil top of dough and press wax paper down over dough.
  8. Let rise until doubled in bulk.
  9. Divide dough and put in pans and let rise again.
  10. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes to 1 hour or until golden brown and pulled away from sides.
  11. This will make 2 big loaves or 4 small loaves.
